Trying Something New
This week I decided to try something new using things I had a lot of laying around the house. No seriously, they kind of end up everywhere. Sorry, Mom!
Perler Beads.
I have been using these beads forever; I have hundreds, maybe thousands. They come in so many colors and you can make endless shapes. I wanted to make them into something that looked sleek and beautiful, but the beads are thin cylinders that don’t look very good.
So, I thought, why not make them smaller by melting them down? I discovered if you lay out the Perler Beads and place them onto a baking sheet and melt them down in the oven they turn into small perfect beads for making jewelry.
My inspiration was ocean or sea-themed as well as summer colors paired with some awesome sea-themed charms from my favorite local bead shop EOS Designs Studio. Ms. Dawn is always so very helpful!
These turned into some awesome bracelets. They have a seamless tie that is tested by myself and my Dad to make sure they will not break. I am obsessed with them.
So in the end, this is your sign to take something you have around your house and make it into something great!
